Writing for GURPS

Recently, I undertook the Herculean task of responding to all the Roleplayer submission received within the last few months. If you sent us an article – complete with a self-addressed, stamped envelope – you should be receiving word on it soon. Unfortunately, we cannot repond individually to any submission not accompanied by an SASE. From now on, I will atttempt to reply to submissions within a few days of receipt – no promises, but the days of the four-month wait should be past.

The only people who may not be receiving word about their submission in the next few days are those who submitted new advantages, disadvantages, skills and spells. A single disadvantage or skill is rarely long enough to stand on its own as an article, so we hang onto all of these that we receive. When we have accumulated enough good ones, we will publish them as a collection, as we did on the front page of this issue. If you haven't heard from us about an advantage or spell you've submitted, this doesn't guarantee that it will be printed, but it does mean that we're still considering for the next collection.

Next issue, we will announce the winner of RP 7's Write-an-Adventure-for-Roleplayer contest, but there is still a little time to enter. To enter the contest, write a complete 2,500- to 3,500-word adventure for GURPS, playable using only the currently published GURPS books and supplements. It should be submitted in the usual Roleplayer format – typed, doublespaced, on 8 1/2" by 11" paper, with your name and the page number appearing on every page. Your name, address, phone number, and Social Security number, and the title of the adventure, should all appear on the first page. Entries must be received no later than February 15, 1988. Adventures received after that date will be considered for publication – as will all contest entries – but will not be eligible for the contest.

The winning adventure will be announced in RP 9, and will be published in RP 10. Its author will receive a contributor's payment, at standard Roleplayer rates, plus a first prize of a Gift Certificate worth $50 worth of SJ Games products.
