August 14, 2021: Flying Buffalo Games Sold To Webbed Sphere

In recent game news, industry stalwart Flying Buffalo Games has been sold to Webbed Sphere, Inc., as announced on August 4 via their press release. Many long-time gamers know of the legendary Rick Loomis, who tragically passed away in 2019. Not many people can claim to have been around as long as Steve, but Rick was one of those few, with classics like Nuclear War and Tunnels and Trolls from the 70s leaving a legacy that still resonates today. Heck, it wasn't a convention if I didn't see Rick's booth and his Tunnels and Trolls banners. Now that's staying power! Fortunately, John Ward of Webbed Sphere is keeping the brand alive after its purchase from the estate.

As per their press release:

"Flying Buffalo and Rick Loomis hold an esteemed position in the history of gaming, and we are proud to now be a part of that legacy," said John Ward, CEO of Webbed Sphere. "Flying Buffalo has thrilled generations of gamers over the past 50 years, and it will make a great compliment to our Toy Vault and Mchezo brand lines. I am excited about what the future holds."

It would have been a shame for the Flying Buffalo brand to disappear, so here's to Rick's legacy being carried on for the next generation of gamers.
