July 13, 2017: A Collection Of Guest Artist Interviews
We've had a blast celebrating the 15th anniversary of Munchkin, and a huge part of that has been our Guest Artist Edition games. These new versions give a fresh look to our classic games, with all-new art for the cards, board, and standies. To take on a massive project like this, we looked for the most talented artists we could find, and came up with not only talented individuals, but nice ones to boot! Many of our guest artists have taken the time to answer some questions about their process, their favorite games, and other random tidbits about themselves!
Greg Hyland helmed Munchkin Zombies Guest Artist Edition, and gave us some insight about being a returning Munchkin artist taking over a different game. We had a dynamic duo of Super Munchkin Guest Artist Edition interviews, featuring Art Baltazar and Lar DeSouza! It's the same game, but the styles vary wildly. Len Peralta was featured for two different games: Munchkin Apocalypse and Star Munchkin! How does his work translate between genres? Read to find out! We talked to Edwing Huang, and his longtime collaborator Jim Zub, about his take on classic Munchkin, as well as Ian McGinty, who gave us his own inspired take on the base game! Shane White, known for his Pathfinder work, talked to us about his version of Munchkin Pathfinder Guest Artist Edition. Katie Cook, artist behind both Munchkin Cthulhu and Munchkin Oz Guest Artist Edition, actually has an interview for a third game, Munchkin Spell Skool, which was just released. Is she actually magic? After interviewing her, I think so.
That's a lot of games, but the interviews aren't too long and are definitely worth your time. We're fortunate to work with some of the most talented artists in the industry. We hope it's been fun making their own Munchkin history as well!
