June 24, 2012: Astronaut Vs. Caveman, An Update

The debate about cavemen and astronauts has been raging for years -- at least in pop culture, anyway. One of the funnier arguments I remember was between Angel and Spike in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I think the question is worth exploring on a more serious level. Our astronauts rely so much on modern technology -- would they be able to survive in the Paleolithic era? Were cavemen and women lucky? Or did they really have the intelligence to survive in a world filled with dinosaurs and giant plants?

German archaeologist Dr. Heinrich Kusch suggests that our ancestors weren't as dumb as we thought. According to him, the remnants of a massive underground cave network has been found in Europe. Not only does he believe that Stone Age cultures built caves to hide and protect themselves from the world above, he also suggests that the tunnels, which stretch from Scotland to Turkey, were once interconnected.
